Karen Smith is my stylist here and she is fenomenal! I drive 3 hours each way just to see her. Right before my wedding my former stylist move to the east coast to make it big! I was extremely happy for him and since he momentarily stop doing hair to focus on the development of products, I made the mistake to not ask him for a recommendation. I used to travel to see him, so I decided to find someone local, in San Diego for a change. Oh boy what a mistake! Some unscrupulous so called stylist in San Diego promised too much and delivered nothing. She burned my very long hair just months before my wedding and leave me with a bright orange head. Brian Borg cuts my hair and he is a master. I have friends who come in from San Francisco and New York to see him since I’ve recommended his talents, and they’re not exaggerative about waiting to see him. He really is masterful in his work, my hair is always healthy and happy. Brian recommends great products and gives me fantastic tips on how to style it and take care of it at home. He is really in demand, I am so lucky to have him cutting my hair. 454 is a great salon, it’s got good energy. The space is light-filled, and the people are cheery when they greet you.

Nightmare experience. I have been a loyal client of Cervando Maldonado's for 5 years and have spent around 7k on haircuts/tips. At the end of December I booked a haircut for the 10th of January. Approx 4 hours before my appointment I get a call from his assistant explaining that Cervando had to cancel my haircut because he was sick. I understand illness happens and was fine with it (though it was rude to give such short notice) It also made my life difficult, as I get my hair colored by someone at a different salon and had to scramble to reschedule that appointment as well. I rescheduled with Cervando for two weeks later, Jan 23rd at 4pm (today). I get a text yesterday at 440pm from his assistant saying "sorry Cervando has to cancel your cut." I never write bad reviews but my experience was horrible . The stylist was extremely rude ,didn’t listen what I want and yelled at me !! when I was asking to do what I need . I was scared to be thrown away from the salon with bleach and foils in my head so I waited until she finished just letting her do what she wants . She was doing my hair with such a rush and attitude but not doing it right . Now I need to go somewhere else and pay all over again to fix everything and my roots that look like done month ago . If you want to be treated like dirt for your money this is the place for you !

The staff is wonderful! Everyone there is sweet. Beautiful people walk in n out of there with gorgeous hair. Brenda Kampt is excellent with color!
