Aesop Fashion Valley

I really like Aesop products and shop there often, but this experience was disappointing. I went to the Fashion Valley store to return a gift with a gift receipt and asked for a gift card, since we had already stocked up for the next several months. The staff refused and insisted on exchange only, repeatedly citing “store policy.” The information around how long I had to return the item was inconsistent, and there was little effort to help or find a reasonable solution. It felt like once the sale was made, customer care was no longer a priority. A few days later, I went to the Aesop UTC location and they resolved the exact same situation in minutes by issuing a gift card without any issue. This was my first time experiencing the Aesop brand! Was in San Diego, CA for a work conference and took a break to go visit the Aesop store in Fashion Valley. The two ladies that helped me explore the products in the store were absolutely kind!!! I enjoyed mostly all of the scents and picked out a wonderful body balm to use as a hand cream. I can’t wait to get back home and start using it!

Very patient employees, picked up a shower gel but I wish I got more. This is def a very small store but the ambience and the experience of trying the products were definitely luxurious.

I can’t recommend this location, sorry. Check out the other Aesop’s. The staff went above and beyond to reject my request to return a bad fragrance called “Hwyl” after I had called the original location I had purchased from in LA ahead of time and spoken to them about returning said fragrance, and was enthusiastically reassured I could return to any location. Dayna, the manager in this case at the Fashion Valley location ultimately decided not to honor their “generous” return policy. I was told that Hwyl smells like a priest that touches kids, and I don’t want it. So I bought a YSL fragrance from Nordstrom instead. I am not happy at all.
