African American Hair Braiding

I have been going here for my braids since 2015 when ever I wanted braids or anything. Last year I went & got Senegalese twist on the top since my back and sides were shaved, LOVED THEM. Went back yesterday after making the appointment LAST MONTH & she was excited that I came. Might I add she does my mom’s hair & a few other people we know because of MY REFERRAL TO HER. I get there tell her I only have $85 BEFORE SITTING IN THE STYLING CHAIR. She said I can’t get box braids or Senegalese twists for that price, so I replied “what can I get done for $85”. She said sit and I’ll do for you. She starts the box braids & says “can you give me $100? I said Okay. More than 3 quarters done, she says “I talked to the GIRLS who are braiding the ends & they said I need to charge you $150-$160 for these

it’s disgusting inside. Store itself was extremely dirty and had the nastiest smell of old sour urine. Definitely has not been cleaned inside and taken care of properly. It’s just a mess. the lady is very impatient, she was extremely aggressive with my hair and i did not like that. Rude and she almost pulled a piece of my hair out , she did not caress the hair at all. Place needs to be shut down and fined. She also charge me 160 for it to be long and after she finished , the hair wasn’t even long to where i told her it was supposed to be. and STILL charged me 160.

This place used to be my favorite salon, as the owner Amy did my hair faster than any other stylist. I stopped going after I witnessed her doing a customer's hair and the lady telling her what she wanted and she kept telling her yes she understood what she wants but doing something else. When I agreed with the lady's concerns, Amy started telling me that if I knew how to do hair I wouldn't be in her shop, the sad thing is I know how to do hair and I'm sure a lot of her customers does too but that had nothing to do with my hair or the conversation. She is not a patient woman at all, I would recommend any salon but the ones on grand st..

I’ve been going to this shop for over 20+ years. The owner is very caring & efficient with her craft of hair braiding. Also she does your hairstyle to suit you not just do your hair for the money but for an individual unique look!!!!

Bought my daughters in for simple hair braiding and it was a complete catastrophe.. Totally un professional and very mediocre at best.. Def will not be coming back again. Waste of time, money, travel, and parking being that you need to feed the meters. Place should be shut down and fined. Don't waste your time. Go elsewhere..
