African hair braiding by kyah

This was one of if not the worst hair braiding salon that I’ve been to in VA. Where should I start.., The owner, Kyah, was friendly when I first got there. After I started getting my hair done by one of her braiders (I’ll get to that in a second), she wasn’t so nice. I had been there 6 hours and only had the front of my hair done. I asked if I could possibly get two braiders on the back because at that point I was very tired and still had 3-4 hours to go. Her response was “No!” That’s it. No explanation as to why or why not. Never offered any assistance, no bottled water, chips or anything. The braider that did my hair did a very lazy job. I asked to have waist length braids which I paid $260 for and ended up with mid back and the rest left unbraided. The braider kept messing with her phon

Didn't even get a chance to book because of how rude & unprofessional this lady was when my younger sister & I contacted for pricing/availability. If you can't handle basic customer service skills & confirming appointments with new clients to ensure they feel at ease, then you need to find a different profession. Waited awhile to receive info that she told us she was gonna send & never did. We contacted her the next day once we didn't hear back & she proceeded to get very aggressive towards us as if we were inconveniencing her & "blowing up her phone" refused service, & hung up in our faces both on individual calls at two different times. Do better & remember how you treat others comes back around!

I brought my 3-year-old daughter in last minute, and they were so kind and accommodating. The stylist was gentle, patient, and made my daughter feel comfortable the whole time. Her braids came out beautiful and neat! So grateful for the care and professionalism we’ll definitely be back!

I called for an appointment on Saturday evening and got an appointment early the next morning for my daughter who got knotless braids. We were in and out in 4.5 hrs and her hair turned out gorgeous. The owner Kyah and the stylist Amy who did my daughter’s hair were so nice and professional. We will be returning.

Kyah and her associate were amazing. My appointment was scheduled at 9:00 am, at 9:05 am, I was in the chair. The service was great and my braids were just like I requested. She acknowledged my edges were a little thin and did not try to grip them, like some braiders would try. I would definitely go back to her shop. Very Professional.
