I went to Studio Cara on Tuesday, February 24th for a makeup lesson with Leslie and had such a great experience. She was incredibly sweet and immediately made me feel comfortable. The lesson was very hands-on—she would do one eye and then have me do the other, which made it so much easier to actually learn the techniques. I also really appreciated that she used some of my existing makeup along with products from the studio, so everything felt practical for my everyday routine. Leslie even wrote down everything we used on a sheet for me to take home, which was super helpful. I ended up purchasing a few products there to pair with my current makeup and I’m really excited to start using them. When I booked my appointment at Cara’s, I was looking for a place where I could learn to apply my make up using my make up or any product in the market. I missed the fact that this business produces their own products. However, I was pleased that they allowed me to bring in my make up and identify what was usable. So there wasn’t a hard push per se to buy their products. I had my session and was told I was unable to record it. I had only wanted to do so because I am older and I knew I would not remember the steps nor the products used. Eventually, I was able to audio record it and feverishly tried to write everything down. My exposure to makeup began when my mother introduced me to Cara Cosmetics exactly 20 years ago when I was only 14 years old (yes, you can do the math). I recall stepping into her Winter Park location at the time and I’m pretty sure I saw my favorite movie poster ‘Dodgeball’ featured in the store because if my memory serves me right, the owner Leslie Christian played some role in the cast makeup (if I’m wrong forgive me). I thought it was so cool and was absolutely fascinated. Being the dorky teenager that I once was, Leslie’s makeup line was truly the stepping stone to help me find and express my identity.
