Coco Professional African Hair Braiding

I had a truly disappointing experience here and would strongly advise others to avoid this business. I was told to arrive at 3pm for my 7‑year‑old’s braiding appointment. Despite advertising that walk‑ins are welcome and hair is included, neither turned out to be true. When we arrived, the owner, Coco, was still working on another client — not ideal, but I was willing to wait. The problems began when she admitted she didn’t have the requested boho hair, insisting that clients usually bring their own. That’s not what is advertised, but because it was late in the day and my daughter had school the next morning, I agreed to go purchase the hair myself. I had already washed and pre‑sectioned my daughter’s hair to make the process easier, but Coco insisted it needed to be taken down. Again,

I texted her on a Monday night asking if she can do my hair on the upcoming Sunday, she confirmed that Sunday at 8am will be fine… I get to the shop around 7:45 and she tells me that I don’t have an appointment, like I really woke up early that morning just to come and sit in her face or something ( be for real 😒 ) I then proceeded to show her our text messages and she acts confused as if she doesn’t recall making the appointment, She then starts to do a girls appointment who came in shortly after I’d arrived. She doesn’t like to do touch ups.She can only get you in if your getting your whole head done over. She only wants the full $220. I took the top of my hair down and had an appointment. I talk to her on the phone to confirm. She said come in 30 minutes then called back in 10 to say she was sick. I will never get back in her chair. Just greedy

I typically go to African braiding shops because they know how to grip and style shorter hair. Ive been to this shop 3 times in total now and only this time have I been lied to about a price and been given rudeness. I have a short fro trying to grow it out and both times have I gotten 10 corn rows for 50$. This time I wanted different parting, sent the picture of a guy with same style and hair length. I called to verify the price and to agree to a time and she agreed. While doing my hair she decides she didn’t want to take time parting it and would “slightly change the style” no price increase. After not receiving the style I wanted she tried to charge over 250$ for 12 simple corn rows in a way diff style. Damn shame, no wonder she didn’t want me to pay before braiding.

Pros: Did a great job on my braids, accommodated 7am time and an appointment within 24 hours & braids very relatively quickly. Cons: My 1st braid appointment - none. The lady who braided my hair was gentle and finished my hair within 3 hours. 2nd visit: I requested the same lady, who the owner said was available, but when I arrived it was a different lady. I told her the size of the braids that I wanted (same as last time, slightly larger.) and she asked me what I was charged. The owner than got on the phone and told me, no that’s not possible and she is not sure why the lady charged me that lower price last time 🙄 .
