I love Emily’s Daughter! Today was my third time coming here, and they do my hair perfectly every time. I have a thin hairline, and not everyone knows how to braid my hair without causing more damage, but they are always very gentle and careful. The shop is always clean, and I feel comfortable whenever I’m here. The women who work here are nice, welcoming, and professional. They also listen and take direction with my hair with no problem, which I really appreciate. It’s such a calm space to get my hair done, and I love that it’s not overly crowded or chaotic. If you’re looking for a place that cares about your hair and makes you feel comfortable, I definitely recommend coming here.
I got my hair done here on Wednesday evening and initially, I loved the results. Everything looked great when I left the salon. However, on Sunday night (less than a week later), I washed only my roots and lightly rinsed the rest of my hair. As soon as my hair got wet, the braids/extensions started coming out in large amounts. The majority of the hair loosened just from getting wet. I contacted the owner immediately, and instead of offering help or a solution, she blamed me and said I wasn’t supposed to wet my hair. This was never communicated to me. I specifically told my braider that I would be going swimming in a few days, and at no point was I told not to get my hair wet or given any aftercare disclaimer. There has been no accountability, no apology, and my messages about a refund a
I came with my daughter for the $200 braid deal. This salon does any style for $200, it’s only more if you don’t bring your own hair. Amy was our braider and she was amazing! Very local/easy to get to if you are in Harlem.
Do not be fooled by the viral TikTok hype. My first visit to Emily’s was great. The braids lasted almost three months with minimal shedding, so I came back thinking I could trust the salon. That was a mistake. Just one day after my second visit, my braids started unraveling and falling out, exactly like another one star reviewer warned. Hair was coming loose almost immediately, which was frustrating and embarrassing. The salon offered to fix them free of charge, but even after the redo, the same thing kept happening. Braids continued to unravel, with pieces falling out regularly. When you pay this much money, you should not be dealing with this at all, let alone days after your appointment. Quality should be consistent, not a gamble. There are plenty of salons in NYC that will not have y
My go-to salon! I’ve been coming here for 2+ years and I am loyal and committed to Emily’s daughter! I always get exactly what I want. The salon is spacious, clean and the staff is super warm! 11/10 highly recommend.
