Luis is such a wonderful hairstylist! I came in for a blowout, and he went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable. The results were exactly what I asked for. He gave me a trim and shaped my bangs perfectly—it was just what I needed. I can be a little picky, so it was refreshing to have someone really understand what I wanted. His vibe is calm and uplifting, and he’s incredibly gentle with his hands—something I truly appreciated. I’ve been to many hairstylists before, and let’s just say I usually leave with my scalp sore from all the pulling. But not this time! If you’re in Berkeley or nearby, definitely check him out. I know I’ll be back!

LUIS IS THE BEST STYLIST! I went in his cute, cozy spot just to get my long hair trimmed and came out looking like a celebrity. He is a perfectionist and and a serious professional. He knows the best styles, colors, techniques and products for your hair. I can’t wait to go back and get a different style and color. I trust him with my hair and that says a lot because I usually do my own hair. Luis is the Best!

worst expierence ive ever had with a haircut guy. please beware ‼️‼️‼️ i have no choice but to leave a bad review because he didnt even try to fix the way he messed up my hair. luis messed up my color once, saying ide be getting purple and it turned out dark browand out of good faith i paid him full price when he also misled me saying ide just be paying for a root touch up and last minute changed it to full color. now this was semi fine, but then he promised he could do the color right next time and so i gave him another chance. worst mistake. he messed up the color again, charged me full price for full color when it had only been three months, thats standard for a root touch up price, not full hair dying price. but i was so taken aback and meek that, regretfully, i paid him full price ag

I had such a great experience getting my hair cut by Luis. As a masculine-presenting woman, getting a haircut can sometimes feel really daunting or uncomfortable—but Luis was incredibly kind, respectful, and attentive from the moment I walked in. He really listened to what I wanted and made sure I felt totally comfortable and understood throughout the whole process. I left not only loving my haircut but also feeling seen and welcomed. Highly recommend him to anyone looking for a barber who’s both skilled and genuinely caring.

Came across Hair by Luis in a flyer I saw. I was looking for a new stylist at the time and gave him a try. Definitely worth it. He is attentive, detail oriented, honest and straightforward about what he thinks he can do with your hair if you give him that freedom. I’m very pleased with the result and I’ll be back to see him again.
