Kalalau Lookout Parking

Very rude parking lot attendant on the morning of March 17th. When the pay-to-park machine didn't operate properly for me, I headed up the hill, as my traveling companions had already done. After I walked past her and up the hill, the attendant began yelling at me to stop. She did not offer to help me with the problem when I was at the machine or when I was next to her on the path. She had no problem with my companions walking up to the lookout, so I believed she would have no problem with me doing the same. We did our sightseeing and photography, paid and left. But her attitude and behavior shouldn't be part of anyone's experience anywhere. I hope your visit is better than mine. Best choice, skip this spot. The view is better at many locations along the road where parking is free.

This is the last parking lot you can get to right now in order to see the famous Pu’u lookout. This lookout is about a mile past the blocked off fence. In 2024 and 2025 the road to blocked for repairs although nothing has been done in the year that it has been closed.
