Rena was super rude to me when I walked in. She said, “ I don’t think you are a client here” when I had an appointment with Marie. Also while I was there I was told I didn’t look like I was from the Richmond district (or SF). They need to get real about the demographics of San Francisco. I paid $70 two times and tipped $20 both times. I felt the effort was very low to cut my long hair, and when I asked for layers there was minimal effort by the stylist. I have a new stylist who puts a lot of effort into each haircut. I have thick hair so that wasn’t the issue. I felt like it was rip off.

Got my hair cut and dyed with Rena! She was very informative and helpful with her suggestions on how to achieve certain styles for my hair texture (which is technically thick asian hair, but the strands itself are fine). She was able to dye my hair with minimum damage and was very conscious about if I wanted to have constant upkeep/low maintenance hair. We kept my hair dark so that it would lighten up over time. Attaching the indoor lighting vs outdoor lighting to show what a difference lighting can make! The salon itself is decorated very modernly and is very clean 🙂 It’s been hard to find someone who truly cares about your haircut and you’re not just another appointment to snip-snap hair off of. I highly recommend leaving your tresses in Rena’s hands!

When I heard that Hiro was opening her own salon, I immediately jumped at booking an appointment. I’d been getting my hair cut by her for several years, and she always impressed me with her attention to detail, friendly personality, and skillful styling of my Asian hair. I’m not super picky with my style, but I’ve found that there are very few stylists outside of Asia that I can trust to cut and texture my hair in a way I’ve found satisfying. Hiro has consistently delivered great results, and my fiancé agrees. It’s a bit out of my way to get to her new salon, as I live in Oakland, but it’s well worth it to get a consistent and reliably well cut look from Hiro every month. Thanks so much, Kitone!

This review is long overdue! I've been going to Kitone for haircuts for a few years now. They always do such a thorough and detailed job with my hair! Normally, I get a very short bob when I visit. Somehow, my hair still looks great almost a year later after it grows out! The only downside is they are always full, so I've struggled to get an appointment for the last half a year. Will visit again if I can!
