I wish I could give it a zero. The owner is very unprofessional and does not adhere to the appointment times. The first time I booked an appointment, she did not tell the stylist that I would be there at that particular time. I ended up getting my hair done very late in the day with that stylist. The second appointment, she made with me at 9 o’clock,. She texted me at 830 to see if I could come at 930. I agreed to meet her at 9:30 in Smithfield and I live in Wilson. I waited in her shop for over 30 minutes for her to show and she did not. I called her twice, and she did not answer the phone. She called me back after almost an hour after my appointment time stating that she was ready for me. This is the second I’ve been to this shop and left unsatisfied, the first time I didn’t like my hair kumba gave me some of my money back but the second time she was very unprofessional as far as not answering my calls or returning messages and when she did I sent her pics of the hairstyle I asked for and pics of my hair that one of her staff performed (which was very different and disappointing) for $120 I should’ve loved my cornrows. Can’t say I would recommend this place, tho the staff is very friendly, all they had to say was they couldn’t do the style!

Went to get my daughter's hair braided and afterwards she talked about how they made her feel very comfortable. They provide snacks and drinks while she was there at their services. After two days my daughter told me when I picked her up from school a braid came out. We went straight to the shop and they went beyond fixing her braid with no question asked. Recently I have had co workers to go to the shop and they talked how they loved it and the length of time they can go without worrying about it. With reviews I feel it's a personal thing, with anything we do not all is going to like it. Kumba do you, you have been a blessing to Wilson Downtown. We need more upcoming businesses like you. Please everyone start supporting more downtown businesses. We need to build it back up to what it use

Yes...I am very, very picky and I often have my hair braided during the summer. I decided to try Kumba and.......I am VERY pleased with my hair. I got boxed braids and I will definitely return again. I am wearing a ponytail but I can also wear them down. Very professional and it didn't take long.

I was very disappointed. They kept using little pieces of hair my after I asked them not to because it was coming out with my braids when I put my hair up. When I got there to get my hair redone they didn't inform me that they didn't have the wet n wavy, so they put the straight microbraids hair in hair instead. The roller set they did on the straight hair lasted 2 days. Now it's straight again. N I don't like the fact that they don't communicate with you about your hair but to each other in their language. That's rude. I won't be coming back.
