Madison Reed Hair Color Bar Hayes Valley

I recently visited Madison Reed and had such a warm, smooth experience. I only needed my roots dyed, but what I really appreciated was the thoughtful guidance and feedback about my color choice. The stylist took the time to talk through options and make sure the tone would work well for me. Everything felt organized and seamless from start to finish. By comparison, I’ve been to another location where at times it felt more like an assembly line. This visit was different — attentive, calm, and genuinely customer-focused.

PLEASE LISTEN TO THE REVIEWS REGARDING HIGHLIGHTS!! I read the reviews but I know how some people can be so i decided to give it a shot anyways. I booked for a full highlight, when i arrived Michelle took me back and said I booked for a balayage. I told her that I wanted her input about what I should do and I showed her a picture (which i added here so you can see) and told her i wanted to be bright and blonde like in the picture and i wanted to demarcation line blended out. The main reason i went in was to blend out the demarcation line. She started doing a balayage on my hair. I am a hairstylist myself, I mainly cut but I know a little bit about color. First timer here, and I was a little hesitant after reading the reviews. I went in fully aware this isn't a full service hair salon. The one thing I do wish is that someone explained the self drying area - where things were, where to put dirty towels and drapes, etc. That didn't influence my opinion - I took it as a learning curve. But the colorist was really nice and explained everything to me, worked with my concerns. The shampoo girl was a little impatient with me, but the wash and conditioning were really great, relaxing. Im not disappointed with the results or the process.

This was my first time at the Madison Reed Hair Color Bar – Hayes Valley. Though I have used Madison Reed (MR) products at home for several years, I made an exception to visit the salon, because it was my birthday, and I wanted perfection. Customer Service and Coloring Skills: I got the perfection that I was hoping for from Evan. She was the “shift lead” and my colorist. When I told her I had been using Ravenna Brown at home, she listened and peeled back my hair with her fingers and pointed out the remnants of different colors applied at home and in past salons. My hair had scattered patches of black, brown, and even reddish shades – and another news, I had nearly 100% grey roots on the top while only 50% grey in the back of my head. First visit to the color bar was great. Colorist Evan was super helpful and the whole experience was easy, efficient and comfortable. Will happily return when my hair needs a touch up!
