Our dinner at Malagon was incredibly special. We hadn't had many opportunities to try such authentic Spanish cuisine, so we were very excited for our reservation. We tried several small plates from the menu to share. My husband has a serious shellfish allergy, so we were sure to communicate that to our server, who had the chef speak with us about his specific restrictions, and although the kitchen is small and difficult to insure against cross-contamination, they did a wonderful job making sure our food had no contact with shellfish. We had the Sobrasada con queso which is a bread with honey, soft chorizo, and goat cheese that was delicious. My favorite of the night was the La Bomba de la Barceloneta, a pork stuffed mashed potato “bomb” with tomato & alioli. My husband loved the Zorza de
Excellent tapas experience on Valentine’s Day. We got the prosciutto-wrapped dates, sobrasada with chorizo, patatas bravas, and a grouper skewer to go along with a bottle of Tempranillo. The sobrasada and tomato sauce that came with the patatas were standouts in my opinion. It’s very small inside and the tables are very close together. It’s not too loud or anything, but perhaps a tad cramped. Regardless, I wouldn’t hesitate to return.
Celebrated my belated birthday with my husband tonight at Malagón. This was my second time dining here, but it had been many years since my last visit, and it absolutely lived up to the new Michelin Star hype. They don’t have a full bar—beer, cider, sherry, and wine only—so if you’re craving a cocktail before dinner, I’d recommend stopping at one of the nearby spots within walking distance like we did. The restaurant itself is quite tiny, especially when the weather doesn’t allow for outdoor seating, so definitely plan ahead and make a reservation. The vibe is intimate and charming with that old-world European feel, aside from the fact that the guests are American 😉. The tapas-style menu ranges from small snacks to shareable plates, and it changes frequently, so don’t get your heart set
We had a wonderful dining experience this evening. The food was perfectly executed, the service was great and they have a knockout wine list. We especially enjoyed the chorizo queso, the lamb rump, the marinated grouper skewer, the tuna carpaccio, and the cheesecake is a must get. Compliments to Tripp and the team and congratulations on your star. It is well deserved.
Absolutely the best meal I’ve had all year! I’ve been meaning to try Malagon since it opened and we just never made it. The rabbit, tuna carpaccio, and the pork skirt steak were to die for. Everything was incredible, but those were the dishes I cannot stop thinking about. Very excited to go back in a few weeks! This will definitely be on the quarterly restaurant rotation.
