Mayama hair braiding

I’ve been going to Mayama for almost 2 years now and I’ve been able to see length retention of my natural hair. She is very gentle, especially for a tender-headed adult like me 😂. She is also conscious to not pull my edges too tight. She normally has one other person helping her with the braids so I am usually done in about 4 hrs. Even though I live in Sandy Springs and within walking distance to TWO other braiding shops, I will continue to make the drive to Duluth for Mayama!!

I took my girl friend who came in from out of town from North Carolina here to get some box braids and they did such a good job! Literally every girl in this place was getting hooked up. I took pictures of all their hair. Every girl who works here can braid soooo good. The business owner is so sweet and the vibe here is awesome! I recommend this place to anyone looking to get any kind of braids. They do such a great job and are great people. We had such an awesome experience! Definitely coming back.

I use to love this place. Mayama really cared about her clients and making her prices make sense and affordable. The people she have in there now are scaring her long time clients away. I’ve been going to her for 4 long years. No matter what shop she was at. I’m not sure when she will return but the way they have hiked them prices up are ridiculous ! I initially brung my mom in who stopped coming because they tried to charge her over a $100 for two temporary braids. Mayama has never done that because she understood that’s not a style that would last. I had debated leaving after that but then they quoted me a style that had curls in the front and 7-8 mid back braids for $95 I thought that was reasonable so I decided to give them another chance now two months later all I asked for was 4 brai

I truly hate to make this review. I texted early morning Tuesday on a day I figured would be slow for Box braids for kids. Mayama tells me she can fit 2 kids in. I come and she’s not there. We wait 20 min for her to arrive and soon as the shop is open it’s smells like 2 week old trash. She then needs to go get food for her daughter. She then tells me prices have gone up. I show her what’s on her website and she states the person who did the website did it wrong. Some how it’s my fault. She told me 130 for kids box braids. I declined I would’ve went to Fanta or #Robbiesimone She started one of my kids hair as we wait for another Braider to come so they can start on my second kid. She comes and 1 hr into braiding she needs to leave and go get her son lol like this is the most ghetto place. S

I needed a last minute appointment and Mayama got me right in. She helped me pick out a hairstyle and helped with my indecisiveness. She braids very well, fast and efficient. Very friendly atmosphere and professionalism. I love my hair so much and so grateful for her lovely hands. Highly recommend!
