Nu Look Dominican Salon

If you are African American and have natural hair I would avoid this salon! I have been going to this salon since I was a teenager. I came in with my own shampoo and conditioner and asked Maria to use what I brought. When she began to wash my hair I noticed she used some of hers after asking her not to she said I will use yours as well. 3 weeks later my curls have no reverted back. I have been natural for 5 years with beautiful tight curls now my hair is ruined. I’ve always heard Dominican salons use perm in their shampoo I guess it’s true. Remind you my hair smells like straight smoke even after several washes.

The first visit I was very pleased with the out come of my hair, I just received a wash and blow dry. I have been perm free for over 10+ years. One thing a beautician must know is how to work on ppl hair that they service, if you don’t have experience then do not touch their hair. I am a African American person, and I know the owner from LI NY. One of her employees appears as if she lack the experience with working with AA ppl. She did my hair I was unhappy with it but didn’t say anything, she was very rough and didn’t treat my hair with care, she the first stylist that sit at the first both to the left when you walk in. I loved it. They made sure I was comfortable throughout the whole experience. I called for the price before coming and when I entered they confirmed the price was still 45. I got a silk press.

Maria and Yadira are very professional and care about your hair. I’m AA so i always feel nervous at first b/c you have to really trust the stylist in new areas.. Glad I came! Prices affordable as well’ - Don’t walk, Run here!

My kid went to your salon yesterday to get a layered hair cut with curly partial highlighted hair (natural color under the colored top layer of head) and you do this!? And how Angela's salon recommended you is beyond me. If you don't know how to cut hair, SAY THAT. I am no expert but since her hair had partial highlights you need to either blend the back length so it looks right OR you tell her she can get a front layer because if you do the back this is what will happen! There is no way I'm having her go back for a fix because that requires the understanding of how to cut hair. Ridiculous work and shame on you to let her walk out of your salon like that.
