My hair was originally texturized, so partially straight with a decent amount of new growth, let’s just say my hair has been TOUCHED BY AN ANGEL! My salt n pepper locs needed a full reconstruction. I'd been watching "Pretty Belle Dreads" a good six months or more on Instagram and decided to make my appointment and trust her with my crown. The level of strategic ratio of hair to loc and the preciseness and clean execution of each loc and part is AMAZING and takes talent. She was able to perfectly match the ratio of how much salt vs how much pepper I had. Absolutely a wonderful experience, so wonderful that I booked my retwist appointment a month in advance, my daughter made her retwist appointment. No one but PRETTY BELLE DREADS will touch my crown...

It took me a while to calm down enough to leave this review, and even months after my appointment I'm still livid about my experience here. I booked my appointment at the lounge for starter locs on the first Saturday of July, as well as color because I was blonde and wanted to go darker. Let it be known: I've had locs before, in fact I had my first set combed out in January and was excited about starting a new with PBD since they had so many good reviews and their Instagram page is followed by a lot of people. When I arrived, all three of the locitians were working with people so I didn't get to the bowl until 30 minutes after I arrived. I'm (sadly) used to that so I wasn't terribly concerned. I recently moved to Queens and live near their newest Jamaica, NY location. Despite being on my loc journey for over a decade and previously living in Harlem, this was my first experience in a salon that caters to the care and maintenance of locs and I can tell the difference! Princess and her staff are so knowledgeable about the care of locs and she does amazing work. No one has ever been able to style my hair like her! I’ve been getting non-stop compliments since I left her shop. The salon is clean, orderly and beautifully decorated. Princess has such a calm, peaceful energy. I’m so happy I found an amazing salon so close to home and I can’t wait to go back!

I had been following Pretty Belle Locs on IG for the longest time, and I always knew that when the moment came to start my loc journey again, she would be the one to crown me. After cutting my locs off, I made a special day trip all the way from San Jose, CA to NYC just for her and it was worth every mile. From the moment I sat in her chair, she made me feel so comfortable and at ease. Her spirit is truly beautiful, and the experience was everything I could have ever hoped for. She didn’t just redo my locs, she gave me back my crown 👑💞. The only thing I wish is that I lived closer, because I would love for her to be the one maintaining my locs. Still, I’m beyond grateful that she was able to bless me with her gift and set me on this new chapter of my loc journey.
