Rock Star Nails & Spa at Bloomingdale

I’m really sad to write this review because I’ve had good experiences in the past at Rockstar… but my most recent visit was extremely disappointing and I don’t think I’ll be back. It’s extremely frustrating spending my hard earned money on a service that looks like I could’ve done myself, and looking forward to something to treat myself only to be let down. I scheduled an appointment for a dip manicure, which I have always gotten. I asked for a gel top coat at the end, and the tech tried to convince me not to do that because “it would turn my nails yellow.” It’s how I’ve always done it, I’ve never had issues, and no one’s ever given me push back about it before. He agreed to do it and It ended up looking streaky and simply not well done. It doesn’t go all the way down to my nail beds and h

Rock Star has become my go-to place for acrylic nails, shaping, and gel/no chip as well as for pedicures. The pedicures are fantastic with the upgrades. I love the mint lavender the most as they use real mint leaves for the massage. The citrus one uses real orange slices, too, so it's just a nice visual esthetic as well as aroma upgrade. I've been seeing Rachel for my acrylics and fills, and she does a really good job shaping. She's definitely been my favorite yet. I was not a fan of how the male tech next to her removed my previous set of acrylics - he stuck a fake nail tip between my nail and the acrylic and ripped it off. Multiple times it hurt and I asked for a different way to remove it but it was ignored. I won't allow that again but it was the first time a removal was done that way

My cuticles hurt and it's been 5 hrs. I went in for a manicure with no chip polish. I had no nail color on. No putting my fingers in water to soften the cuticles. She right way took out the electric sanding tool. There was no reason to use it. First she used the tool to remove my cuticles, then she sanded down my nails. Not just a little, a lot. As if I was getting acrylics sanded down. She put my fingers in water for 5 seconds the preceded to pull of some cuticle. Cutting me three times. She didn't even push them back. I pushed the back when she went to get my color and I was able to make my nail bed look longer but, now there was dead cuticle sticking up, she didn't fix it. I don't usually get my nails done but decided to do them so they would like nice for an event I had coming up. I decided to do the dip with extensions (since my nails are short). My teenager came and had a pedicure. After reading the reviews, I selected the nail tech I wanted (since a friend had left a review praising her). We arrived 7 minutes late and the tech I had picked had already taken someone else. I didn't really care that much about getting mine done and didn't want someone else, so I said to do my daughter's pedicure, and I would just wait for her. Instead, they switched out the nail tech I wanted so she could do mine. Let this be a lesson... if you schedule an appointment with a particular tech... DON'T BE LATE. I'm thrilled that I ended up having them done because they came ou
