Salon Meraki Queen St

I get gel manicures every 4-6 weeks at Salon Meraki on Queen Street and pedicures in the summer (I don't get pedicures in the winter to give my nails a rest and because I walk a ton and ski). I love this nail salon. I always book based on convenience, so I've used most of the nail techs and I am always happy with the service. The salon is well managed and they are accommodating and professional. The owner is well known in the Old Town business community, so you have a feeling of community, where there are regular customers and other local business owners. I always see 2-3 people I know! The salon is clean and has a nice minimalistic aesthetic. Sometimes there are clients loudly conducting business while getting their nail services and I am very short, so the pedicure chairs are not at all

I’ve been coming here for about 2 years now and absolutely love it there. Everyone is friendly, it’s clean, well priced, and Mimi is an amazing nail technician. The 3 photos is the work she has done the last 3 times I’ve seen her.

I went here to get SNS, and it was a complete disaster. The tech, Gigi, was not polite at all. When I told her she was hurting me with the drill, she didn’t apologize or offer to switch the drill bit — she just kept repeating that “this is the process,” while continuing to hurt me. I asked to speak with the manager so I could switch to another nail tech, thinking maybe Gigi was just being too rough. Instead, the manager (who also does nails) told me they were fully booked and could only reschedule — even though my nails were already halfway filed down. It was an awful experience from start to finish. For the price they charge, I do not recommend this place if you want good customer service or a professional, considerate experience.

I really tried to like this salon. The aesthetic is nice but the service is lacking. The first time I came here, the owner, Kathleen did my nails and my cuticles were cut, sore and bleeding. I brushed it off because it happens. Tommy has done my other dip powder services and he can be hit or miss. Back in the summer I asked him for square extensions and he struggled to get a good shape with longer nails. He also struggled with making sure the powder was smooth. After 2 hours of him struggling back and forth, I was completely unhappy with my nails. He said I should come back the next day and he would do it all over again. The next day I came and just requested that he forget the tips and just do my nails short with dip. The next day I came and told Gwen that I was not happy with my service.

A friend recommended I visit Salon Meraki and I’m so glad I did. I loved the atmosphere of the location and my technician, Mimi, was amazing. She took her time with my services and listened to my requests regarding my pedicure needs. It was a great experience and I will definitely be back!
