Came on a friend's recommendation to have my gel removed, and added on a regular polish manicure. Average experience. Pros: Gel removal was fine, and my technician was friendly and professional. She was efficient and very careful to work around one of my fingers, which was still healing from a hangnail. ❤️ Cons: Technician was definitely in a hurry. This may have been my fault for not knowing I had builder gel (gel noob), which takes more time/effort to remove. This also led to an inconsistent finish on the lacquer, which I'm not fully satisfied with (see photos). Note: Being in a rush meant I didn't get some parts of the signature manicure (ex. hand scrub), but they did give me a $5 discount without having to ask, which was appreciated!

Disappointed in my pedicure experience. I came in at 38 weeks pregnant for my last pedicure before giving birth. I waited about 20 minutes despite having an appointment, which I was willing to overlook since I was a few minutes late myself. While the polish and shaping looked great, the service felt rushed. My pedicure lasted about 25 minutes instead of the 40 minutes listed in the reservation system, and I did not receive the hot towels that were included. My tech asked if I wanted to wait while my polish dried and I said yes, but she never came back before taking another client to help me pull my leggings down, put my shoes on, or offer disposable shoes. This feels standard for a pedicure experience and especially while pregnant. Overall, it was not the experience I was hoping for.

Even though I’ve moved to Decatur, I can’t bring myself to look for another salon. I am a germaphobe when it comes to nail salon equipment, and this place is wonderfully clean. They sterilize all their equipment and many times open the sterile packaging in front of you. Each client gets new nail files and buffers. They even require every client to wash their hands once they walk in. They clean each foot basin between uses. Techs all wear gloves. Overall very reassuring cleaning practices. Every nail tech I’ve had is consistently great and I just come for whoever is available. They work at getting out any signs of ingrown nails. I’m a finger skin picker and cut my nails super short, and I’ve never felt any judgment from a single tech, which I really appreciate after many bad experiences at

I’ve been coming to Sugarcoat for a while and the service and my nails are always amazing! Nancy is the absolute BEST! She takes her time and gets the technique right but also gets me in and out. My nails don’t break like they used to before I was coming. The shop is clean, they are always welcoming and I love coming here. My daughter enjoys coming too!
