The Hive Hair Studio

I received truly the worst haircut I’ve ever had in my life from Laura in February 2026. I hesitated to write this review because she is very nice, but every time I look at my hair I feel so upset. I called the studio in advance and asked which stylist knew how to cut shoulder length hair. I was told they all know. So, I made an appointment with Laura given all her fantastic reviews. I had hair right below my shoulder and asked for her to cut it right above my shoulder (and gave a photo for reference of how it was cut in the past). She proceeded to give me incredibly unflattering layers that changed how my face looks and also gave me bangs. I never requested either of these!The bangs are also completely uneven. I’ve been going to The Hive Hair Studio for several years now, and I absolutely love it. Valerie is my hairdresser, and she always does a wonderful job. I showed her a reference picture, and she did an amazing job emulating it — it turned out exactly how I hoped! The salon itself has such a relaxed, friendly atmosphere, which makes every visit enjoyable. I was extremely happy with the result, as always. Highly recommend Valerie and The Hive to anyone looking for great service and beautiful results!

I liked the look of my hair after the blowout, but upon closer inspection, it looks like I have some different lengths in my hair. This is disappointing because I didn’t ask for any kind of layers and have actually spent the past year growing out layers that I had previously gotten. I also wanted my existing bangs shorter. This looks like it was only partially done, as the pieces at the center were shortened, but those on the edges were not touched at all - so now there’s a sharp transition from short hair in the center to very long hair on the edges of my bangs. Disappointed given the price point.

This place is the best. I got a fantastic haircut from Laura, but I wanted a few extra pieces removed around my face, so I popped in (a week later!), and Taylor, another wonderful stylist, asked me to sit in the chair & made it look perfect in 5 min. Kind people, good vibes, very talented stylists! A neighborhood gem. 💛
