I can’t say enough great things about UHURU Natural Hair Salon, especially Sara, who has truly been a lifesaver for us. Sara is our go-to detangler for my daughter, who is 8 years old, mixed, and has naturally curly hair that tangles and dreads very easily. When her hair gets to the point where we can’t comb it out at home, Sara steps in with so much patience, skill, and care. She has a gentle technique that allows her to slowly and carefully work through the toughest tangles without hurting my daughter’s head. That alone means everything as a parent. Muslim-Friendly Hair Experience at Uhuru Highly Recommended I want to share something truly positive. As a Muslim woman, I wear hijab and I cannot show my hair to anyone except my husband and other women. Finding a salon that understands the need for privacy can be difficult. I called Uhuru, and spoke with a woman named Erica. I explained my situation and asked if there was any way to have my hair done in privacy. She told me they didn’t have a private room, and at first I felt discouraged… but then she showed me what true kindness looks like. Sara did a great job on my hair! I was extremely happy with the service she provided. One thing I will say is that this is a very quiet salon. The first hour I was there and then sporadically throughout the rest of the time there was no music. The stylists didn't talk very much either. I hope we can get the music going and consistent at least on my next visit because I will for sure be back for the hair styling.
